My dog before last was a boxer. I love them so much. They are, beyond a doubt, the dumbest, most useless animals in the world (I'm including goldfish here), but they’re so goddamn happy and loyal and loving that you can’t help but adore them.

Here are some examples:

I had to put door stops in around my house to keep the doors open while I was gone. Why? She liked to use her paw to slam doors closed. I once came home on a 100+ degree day to find that she had locked herself in a bathroom and nearly killed herself.

One time she escaped from my yard by jumping over the fence. How did I find her? Because she was on the other side of the fence crying and wailing because she couldn’t get back.

I came home one time to find that my house had been broken into. My immediate worry was that they had done something to her, because obviously a loyal dog would protect their home. Nope. Evidently she just stood around and watched.
